Our insurance coverage group represents clients in a wide range of insurance claims and coverage matters including first-party property and casualty claims, as well as third-party liability claims. We represent insurers both regionally and nationally, and provide guidance on policy interpretation, the rights and duties of parties, and the assessment of risks associated with various claim resolution strategies.

Our coverage attorneys have substantial experience in drafting coverage opinions and non-waiver agreements. We have litigated complex coverage issues to successful conclusions in both state and federal courts.

Experience in this practice group includes:

• Representing an insurer in a hearing before state regulatory authority.
• Counseling a professional malpractice insurer regarding suggested changes to policy language, in light of changing conditions within the insured's profession.
• Conducting a review of a restaurant chain's property insurance policies to determine areas of uninsured risks.
  
• Negotiating a multi-million settlement for a client against an international insurer in a complex insurance litigation.
  
• Reviewing, revising, and drafting medical malpractice professional liability insurance policies.
  
• Rendering coverage opinions and preparing reservation of rights letters in professional liability, general liability, and the specialty risk arenas.
  
• Representing an insurer in Iowa in a declaratory judgment action, and successfully avoiding coverage due to the insured's non-cooperation.
