James S. Owens Jr.
James S. (Sandy) Owens, Jr. graduated from Mercer University Law School in 1966. He entered the United States Air Force, serving as a detachment commander in the Office of Special Investigation. He left the Air Force and joined Nall & Miller in 1970.
Throughout his career, Mr. Owens has handled a wide range of civil lawsuits for both plaintiffs and defendants. His areas of practice include product liability and motor carrier cases. He has also handled hundreds of professional liability cases involving lawyers, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, hospitals, clinics, nurses, nursing homes, podiatrists and chiropractors. He has tried cases throughout the country. Mr. Owens is particularly interested in ADR and handles mediations and arbitrations for clients nationwide. He utilizes the latest in technology and advocacy techniques in ADR practice. In addition, Mr. Owens is a trained mediator and arbitrator and has mediated and arbitrated many cases.
Mr. Owens has sought to develop his skills as an advocate throughout his career and now teaches law students and attorneys the art of advocacy. Mr. Owens has been on the faculty of the Atlanta College of Trial Advocacy, the Emory University Law School Trial Techniques Program, and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Trial Academy. He was chairman of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Trial Academy for two years.
